Every year I have the great pleasure of visiting a number of schools to share my books and my love of reading and writing with thousands of students. This year I visited 47 schools across 3 provinces and met over 6000 students!
I’d like to take a moment to thank all the librarians, the teachers, the principals and, or course, the students, who made this possible. These visits are an unending source of inspiration for me and, I dare hope, might spark some budding authors into action.

It is with great honour that I will be the judge of the 2017 edition of the 
Hooray! Hurrah! Hurray!
Since then, I’ve been on cloud nine! This is a first for me. A first book in English. And first time being nominated for a GG. I am honoured that my book was selected and humbled to see my name amongst children’s literature giants such as Sydney Smith, Jo Ellen Bogart, Lucy Ruth Cummins, Esmé Shapiro and so many more!
When a branch from her beloved tree snaps off during an icy storm, a plucky girl refuses to let it be hauled away. Her neighbour, Mr. Franck, says it’s full of potential. So with imagination and spirit (and Mr. Frank’s help), the girl creates something whole and new out of the broken branch, to be enjoyed again and again!
