La traduction, ça vous intrigue?

Dans quelques semaine, je ferai partie d’une table ronde au sujet de la traduction avec mes amis et collègues Didier Leclair (auteur du roman Toronto, je t’aime) et Sylvie Bérard (autrice, poétesse et traductrice hors pair dont un des plus récent projet de traduction a gagné le Prix du Gouverneur Général). Le tout sera modéré par Suzanne Kemenang, la directrice des Éditions Terre d’Accueil. On parlera, entre autre, de l’importance, des joies et des défis de la traduction.

Rosa Bonheur adorait dessiner des animaux. Et elle y excellait ! Mais dans la France du 19e siècle, les filles n’avaient pas le droit d’être artistes.

Dans cette belle mise en récit des débuts de Rosa à Paris, les jeunes lecteurs découvrent l’artiste qui étudie le dessin dans la maison paternelle en s’aidant d’une ménagerie d’animaux qu’elle observe de près. Lorsqu’un jour Rosa est chassée du marché des chevaux pour avoir porté des vêtements masculins, elle doit faire preuve de créativité pour contourner les règles et poursuivre son rêve de devenir une peintre réaliste de classe mondiale.
