What an Amazing Year!

B-I5YQxCcAE475U What an amazing school year 2014-2015 has been! As I set out today to visit my 42nd (!) school since September, I can’t help but reflect on how lucky I am to be a children’s author and to be given the pleasure of sharing my love of books and writing with so many children – over 8000 this year alone, but who’s counting!

I’d like to take a moment to thank all the children, teachers, librarians, principals, parents and other authors that have made this possible. Hats off to:

Two Times Finalist!!

Oh my! I am twice as happy today! I just learned that two (yes, TWO!) of my books made the long-list for the OLA 2015 Forest of Reading!

« Une Charlotte olympique » is finalist for the Prix Peuplier (French picture book category) and my middle grade chapter book « Embrouilles à Embrun » is finalist for the Prix Tamarac Express (French pre-teen category). What an honour! Just knowing that hundreds of French and French immersion kids will get to read my books, and perhaps even vote for them (a girl can dream!) is filling me with such joy that I can hardly contain myself!
Thank you to the selection committee! And thank you to OLA for taking on such a hugely exciting program!

Now, what finalist book will I read first? 😉

Look what just sailed in!

MY NEW PICTURE BOOK HAS ARRIVED!

« Le voilier d’Olivier – une aventure en anagrammes» has sailed into a French bookstore near you!

This is the story of Olivier who wakes up one morning to find that his dog has runaway to China. Olivier hops on his sailboat and picks up a crew of funny characters to help him on the way.

Besides being a somewhat silly story about friendship, «Le voilier d’Olivier» is also a fun way to introduce readers 6-12 to the magic of anagrams (different words that use the same letters). Anagrams like «Olivier» and «voilier», «chien» and «Chine», to name just a few. Every page is peppered with mixed-up words. The story is therefore two adventures in one – finding Olivier’s dog AND finding the anagrams that make up the story!

This is my third book with the wonderful team at Éditions Scholastic and my second to be illustrated by the very talented LOUFANE. Thank you all for coming aboard with me on this crazy project!

Already, I am planning a school presentation based on this new picture book, where the students will be introduced to anagrams and will created their own story. Such fun! If you are interested, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Night Flight Now Available in Chinese!

luca chinois-1Wànsuì! (which means Hooray! in Chinese)
My picture book « Night Flight » is now available in Chinese! And what a beautiful version it is. Who needs to get a Chinese character tattoo when you have your own book in Chinese Simplified characters 😉 This is the third language that I’ve had the pleasure of seeing this story translated into. Night Flight is also available in French (original version), Arabic and English, of course.
The though of children all over the world reading and sharing my story brings me a lot of joy. It’s moments like these that make writing for children the best possible carreer in the world.
Thank you to the Éditions Scholastic / Scholastic Canada team for making this partnership with Beijing Mediatime Books possible!

A Book Trailer for César!

Nowadays, all great movies and books have a trailer. They don’t all start with “In a day when….” but they are all meant to pique our curiosity (and, let’s face it, to boost sales!) Well, I too have a book trailer! Here is my trailer for my new picture book La salade de César!

  • Will Jules and his little brother César succeed in their quest to make a salad before their father wakes up from a nap?
  • Will they find all the ingredients?
  • Will Dad dare to taste their odd-looking concoction?

That’s what you’ll discover when you read La salade de César but until then let me whet your appetite with this cute little book trailer 😉

Bande-annonce César

Hail César!

Tossing up a new picture book, «La salade de César»!

Tossing up a new picture book, «La salade de César»!

Look what has just sprouted in my kitchenl! It’s my brand new picture book, « La salade de César »!

Illustrated by the very talented Julie Cossette and published by Éditions de la Smala, « La salade de César » is the story of two brothers, Jules and César, who decide to make a salad to replace the one they ate “by mistake”. They’ll make a CESAR salad, of course! But what ingredients do they need? That’s easy! They’ll just use all the things that César likes!

And so begins a deliciously ludicrous story about two silly chefs!

« La salade de César » is available in stores now!

And the Gold Medal Goes to… Charlotte!

couv_CharlotteOlympiqueWith the Sochi winter Olympics only days away, what would be more fun than to read a picture book about a little girl who dreams of becoming a figure skating champion? Nothing! But does such a wonderful book exist, you ask? Why, yes! It does! Enter my brand new picture book, Une Charlotte olympique!
This fourth Charlotte book is all about sports, perseverance and imagination. It wins a gold medal for fun, beautiful illustrations (thank you Benoît!)…and timing 😉
Une Charlotte olympique is in stores TODAY!

It’s a bo..ok!

Photo bébé CestchouetteIt has finally arrived! 230 grams, 23 cm and it already sleeps through the night. It’s a gorgeous, bouncing baby BOOK! We’ve named it « C’est chouette, une maman! » (which means “Mommies are awesome” in French).
Delivery went well – the Purolator guy that dropped off the box of books was very nice 😉
I’d like to thank the team at Éditions de la Bagnole and my story’s godmother (and illustrator) Geneviève Després without whom this new picture book would not have been possible.
Cest_chouette_cover« C”est chouette, une maman! » is an hommage to motherhood, as seen through the eyes of a child. It will be in bookstores April 22, just in time for Mother’s day (hint-hint!).

Starting (Voice-over) Fresh for 2013!

My new home studio!

Having fun in my new home studio!

Today, it came! My brand spanking new voice-over kit. I’ve upgraded my home studio with a new SL 300 condenser USB microphone (sounds great!), a wind-screen (no more popping “P”s) and new portable vocal booth (it’s so shiny!) The second I laid eyes on this baby, I knew it was the one for me!

Set up was a breeze and I just can’t wait to fire it up. Bring on the VO gigs! I’m ready to take your breath away!
