Yipee! The finalists for the OLA Forest of Reading program have been announced! In this 2020 edition there are 13 different award programs with over 90 English nominees, 46 French nominees, 37 English publishers, and 16 French publishers – whew! That’s a lot of great books!
I’m very happy to announce that my picture, Tellement sauvage, is a finalist in the Prix Peuplier program (French picture books). I am excited and honoured to be amongst the selected titles. This means that hundreds of students (francophones and francophiles) will read my silly story about what nocturnal animals are up to while we sleep. I giggle just thinking about it!
Every year, more and more schools participate in the Forest of Reading program. And each year more schools register for the French programs. This is great news both for schools (who get to read the “crème de la crème” of French books published that year) and French authors (who get to share their stories with readers that may not otherwise know about their books). I am thrilled to be a small part of this great Canadian reading opportunity!
Hats off to the Forest of Reading crew, to all the finalists and to the young readers who have come back year after year proving that reading is far from a dying activity!

Psst… winners will be announced in May 2020. I will keep you posted. Fingers crossed! 🙂
